We can build you a beautiful kitchen, your dream addition, even a whole house. Many builders can. With Capella, you’ll actually enjoy and trust the entire process. Our difference is that we understand construction projects don’t start the day we show up on site - they start with your ideas. We’ve built an entire process around exactly that, and we are here to walk you through it.
Phase 1: Pre-Construction
-
Project discovery starts the minute you have a desire to form a new space for yourself, but don’t know what to do next. We always start here to understand what you want - what is your dream for the space? How should it make you feel? This phase sets the tone for the entire project.
-
Depending on the scope of your project, we will either support site selection or dive into early investigations. Performing detailed investigation before design kicks off can eliminate many unknowns up front, allowing us to account for them in the budget and design. Utility placement & sizing, structural considerations, soil characteristics - these are the unseen and often unknown things that can upend a project if they aren’t talked about early enough.
-
If you have a designer, that’s great! We play well with everyone. If not, we can help match you with someone that aligns with your personal ethos and style. Design is the most important part of every project - we’ll help you choose the right one.
-
We don’t wait until design and permitting is complete to give you a price. We provide open-book pricing from day 1, and we update that continually as design progresses - giving you real insight into the impact different decisions have on your project. We and the design team collaboratively use this information to keep your project on budget, without sacrificing your vision.
-
We maintain consistent communication with you throughout the permitting timeline so you know when your project will be approved. We use this time for subcontractor buyout so we can hit the ground running once the permit is issued.

Buyout is how we get subcontractors (our trade partners) on board. We get multiple prices on everything, ensuring that your project is delivered for the best value out there. Our buyout process isn’t as simple as taking the first number a subcontractor gives us - we vet each bid to ensure it is complete. Rest assured, everyone we work with is licensed, bonded, insured, and around for the long haul.
-
We coordinate the start of demolition with procurement of your new products and materials. There’s no sense is ripping something apart only to wait for a product to arrive - taking the time to prepare and plan up front will minimize the interruption to your home.
-
This is where we really shine. From demolition to rough-in to the final coat of paint, we maintain constant communication with you and adhere to a well defined quality program. You won’t need to ask what we are up to or what’s happening next week - you’ll see it in our weekly look-ahead schedules, progress pictures, and at our meetings together. We host your project on cloud based project management software that you have access to. No more guessing when the project will be complete, what happened last week, or who is working in your house - you see it at your fingertips.
-
Our goal is to look forward to seeing you around town after the project is complete. We stand by our work, and will provide a detailed turnover package containing information on all products, equipment, and finishes in your home. We also set up a 10-month warranty walk with you to review how all the products are functioning prior to the 1-year warranty period.
Phase 2: Construction
The construction phase is the fun part, and our goal is to make sure you feel the same way. You won’t need to guess at when, who, or how - we maintain continual communication with you every step of the way. You receive weekly updates that include progress made, current conditions on site, and a one month look-ahead at what’s ahead. More details below, or reach out to us for a personal presentation.
